The
Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC) is accepting applications for grants that will support public events that bring people together in public spaces and promote community building in the Medical District.
The
Events Grant Program is available to students, employees, residents, and others in the Memphis Medical District who are interested in organizing and producing public events that activate public spaces, strengthen community identity, promote neighborhood assets, and connect people to places, businesses, or other people across the District.
"We are excited to encourage individuals who have innovative ideas that will draw people, activity, and attention to the Memphis Medical District,” said Dr. Ken Brown, Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operations Officer for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and an MMDC board member. “UTHSC is proud to support this program as a way to showcase some of the District’s great assets, talent, and investments.”
Applicants are encouraged to think creatively about activating public spaces or supporting local attractions in a way that inspires people to engage the District in new ways.
Grants of $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 will be awarded to selected applicants on a rolling basis beginning
August 1, 2016 until funds are depleted.
A map of district boundaries, as well as applications are available online at
www.mdcollaborative.org or at the MMDC office at 656 Madison Avenue.
