Memphis libraries to host free Hattiloo performances

The action, laughter, drama and excitement on the stage of Hattiloo Theatre are coming to Memphis Public Libraries for the second season of Hattiloo at the Library a family program for Library customers of all ages to enjoy live performances, starting 
Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, 11 a.m. at Cordova Library (8457 Trinity Road). Thanks to a partnership between the two organizations, customers who love the arts can immerse themselves into the magic that happens when literature comes to life in plays like The Magic Tree and It’s a Shel-e-bration!

Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 @ 11 a.m. – Cossitt Library (33 S. Front St.) — The Magic Tree            
Saturday, March 18, 2017 @ 11 a.m. – Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar Ave.) — The Magic Tree            
An African tale of identity, self-love, family, and determination, The Magic Treeis an exciting play that follows main character Ola on her adventure across Yoruba, where she discovers new lands, meets new people and uncovers her inner strength and beauty.

It’s a Shel-e-bration! is a celebration of the beloved poet and author Shel Silverstein. Hattiloo actors will bring Silverstein’s zany, silly, and smart poems to life!

The fun doesn’t end there, however. Following each performance, interactive activities like dancing and poetry writing are planned for customers to enjoy.
