Vaco Memphis grows East Memphis office space, adds new faces

On the heels of an office space makeover this past spring, executive placement firm Vaco Memphis is growing its team with the addition of three new recruiters. Eddie Fuchs and Dustin Martin are new executive recruiters in the firm's Vaco Logistics and new Transactional Accounting divisions, and Katie White is a new financial recruiter for the Vaco Financial division.

Earlier this year Vaco, which provides recruiting and consulting services in technology, accounting, logistics, marketing and risk solutions, celebrated its tenth year at its current location at 6000 Poplar Avenue in East Memphis with a remodeling that increased its available space from 1,200 square feet to more than 7,000 and added a gym and shower to the facility for the office's 25 employees.

"We also added more room for seating and more small conference rooms that are good for meetings and video conference interviews," says Vaco Memphis partner Kirk Johnson, who expects Vaco could need to absorb more nearby office space over the next few years. "We have enough extra desks for the immediate term, but as our risk solution division continues to grow we may end up having to get some additional office space in this building."

The firm created a new division for transactional accounting in January and is also growing quickly in the health care arena.

"Although we don't have a separate practice as of yet within health care, the current initiatives and regulations that are giving financial incentives to health care organizations to demonstrate how they meaningfully use their new electronic health records--that part of our business is growing exponentially," says Vaco Memphis partner Gassia Gerges, who explains that a large local health care organization is using Vaco exclusively to help launch its electronic medical records.

The company has also had recent success with helping companies relocate to the Memphis area.

"We're working with companies that did not previously exist here to provide some of their leadership talent to begin with, and then eventually we will hopefully help to fill out some of their departments," says Johnston.
