The long-talked about
Bass Pro Shops appears to be truly on its way into the Pyramid. The company hosted a large-scale job fair over the past two days, welcoming hundreds of people Tuesday and Wednesday to submit applications for the more than 600 full and part-time jobs for the store, stills scheduled to open this May.
Store General Manager David Hagel acknowledged the number of positions could evolve, and potentially grow, with the changing needs and growth of the businesses.
During the fair, the Cook Convention Center was bustling with job-seekers looking to secure a position in multiple departments, from fishing, camping and hunting to apparel, footwear and customer service. Bass Pro Shops will also employ cashiers, greeters, stockers, marine technicians, boat riggers, boat detailers and boat sales consultants.
In addition to the retail positions, the development needs staff to run the planned restaurants and Big Cypress Lodge hotel, which includes positions for servers, bartenders, concierge, front desk, esthetician and others.
In a press release, Bass Pro promised the positions would provide associate benefits, excellent wage potential, flexible morning and evening schedules, holiday and vacation pay, and associate discounts at Bass Pro Shops. Medical insurance will be available for eligible, full-time associates.
