The real estate market is picking up, and
Renshaw Property Management has added a new division to help get vacant properties market-ready.
As an official branch of the company, Renshaw Rehabs is an extension of the maintenance and repair services that the company provides to the 900 properties it manages.
“A lot of agents used to manage properties when the market was horrible. Well, now it’s not, and they’re busy. They need to be able to turn that (house remodels and renovations) over to someone like us to be able to take care of that in a professional manner,” said owner Bob Renshaw.
“A lot of the time realtors are given the task of playing general contractor, and they have to do all of this themselves,” he added. Not only is sorting out the roofing, flooring and plumbing time-consuming for a realtor in a heated market, but most realtors also don’t have the necessary credentials to hire contractors. Renshaw Rehabs manages all of the insurance and licensing and is able to make high-quality repairs in a short amount of time. Director Jeremy Thomas and his team of contractors can turn a distressed property around in seven to ten days.
Renshaw Rehabs is also aiding in the fight against neighborhood blight. “What we feel that we can do is to help the real estate market get moving in a lot of areas. That’s not only good for realtors and individuals who have bought houses as investments but also for neighborhoods. It helps bring back a neighborhood when empty houses have been sitting there for a long period of time,” Renshaw said.
According to Renshaw, most of the remodels are being done in Cordova, Bartlett and Southeast Memphis. He’s confident that demand for Renshaw Rehabs’s services will expand into the Downtown, Midtown and Germantown areas.
Some of Renshaw Rehabs’s services include painting, flooring, roofing, electrical repair, landscaping and curb appeal revamping, professional cleaning, appliance repair and countertop replacement.
