The Village at Germantown has opened a Health Care Center.
Located at 7820 Walking Horse Circle in Germantown, The Village at Germantown is a continuing care retirement community that offers levels of care that correspond to the needs of its residents as they age. The Village provides independent and assisted living, as well as skilled nursing care, and memory care.
The added center enables The Village at Germantown to offer advanced levels of care for its residents. The expansion adds 52,268 square feet, 32 assisted-living apartments, 16 Memory Care private suites and adult day care that is available for residents as well as the community.
“The health care center really is an extension of our independent living,” said Ron Rukstad, Executive Director for The Village at Germantown. “They might need skilled assisted living or Memory Care. What we want is a product that reflects what they tell us they need.”
Rukstad said The Village has doubled, with the need for assisted living, skilled living and nursing care exceeding what the capacity is.
The growth enables The Village to take its assisted living and convert it into 20 skilled nursing beds.
The Village at Germantown celebrates 10 years this month. It has 250 independent living residents and 199 apartments and villas. The new Health Care Center doubles the current capacity of 50. Construction will begin in the coming months on an independent wing that will add 32 people in apartments, taking overall capacity from 300 to almost 400 when construction is complete in late 2016.
“We’re very fortunate because on the independent side we have a waiting list of almost 50 for the apartments,” Rukstad said. “That’s why we need the new wing. On the health care side it’s the aging in place process with more people needing a health care facility. Both areas warranted expansion and now was the time.”
