Continuing momentum built by an influx of new restaurant tenants,
Loeb Properties recently announced it is adding a new business – and new business type – to Overton Square.
The Maxwell Law Firm has signed a 2,500-square-foot lease to open a residential real estate closing company and commercial services firm in the newly revitalized Midtown district.
Owner Bill Maxwell is a long-time Memphis real estate and closing attorney who represented the Overton Square Merchants Association in the mid-1980s. His personal experience with the area, as well as the locations of his current clients, led to the decision to open his new office at 51 N. Cooper.
“I am a Midtowner at heart and being in the Parkways gives me an excellent proximity to most of my clients,” Maxwell said.
Aaron Petree, who represented landlord Loeb Properties in lease negotiations, said Maxwell is first professional, legal services provider to land in Overton Square.
“The presence of his new company helps round out a comprehensive offering of businesses to the community,” Petree said.
Overton Square has been a hotbed for new restaurant activity since Loeb Properties began redeveloping it as a theater and entertainment district in 2012.
The newest restaurant –
Schweinehaus – opened Sept. 1. The German pork and beer restaurant is located in the former Paulette’s space and operated by brothers Andy Walker and Chef David Scott Walker.
Next door to Schweinehaus is the new
Robata Ramen & Yakitori Bar, which opened in July. Across the street, Babalu Tacos & Tapas opened in June. Other restaurants currently under construction in Overton Square include Lafayette’s Music Room and Belly Acres.
