South Main is getting bubblier this weekend with the opening of
Love Pop Soda Shop, a new craft soda store.
On Nov. 22 the shop will open in the 1,400-square-foot space at 506 S. Main, offering a variety of 200 soda flavors from across the country. The soda offerings will include small-batch sodas and rare finds from bottlers with limited regional availability. The concoctions are promised to be made with pure cane sugar instead of the typical high fructose corn syrup in common sodas. Handmade ice creams will be available at the location as well.
In addition to offering direct soda sales to retail customers for about $3 a bottle (or an assortment of bottles in variety six packs), the store will also supply their unique brews to local restaurants.
The concept is the result of a partnership between local restaurateur and businessman Taylor Berger and mother/son team Mignonne Wright and Brendan Wright of MacAdvantage in East Memphis. The small-scale retail store is only one piece of the overall vision--they hope to eventually ship sodas nationally from the Memphis location.
