The Heights Community Development Corporation (CDC) will hold a spring festival and community celebration on Saturday, April 16. The event, hosted in partnership with Treadwell Middle School, Second Baptist Church, Highland Heights Resident Community, Memphis City Beautiful, Livable Memphis and the Wolf River Conservancy will take place on the campus of Treadwell Middle School from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
Planned activities for the Heights of Spring Festival include a community-wide clean up, food from a Treadwell alumni caterer Danny’s BBQ, installation of a community garden and art mural, cooking demonstrations, information on nutritional and healthy lifestyles, and musical performances by local artists.
Jared Myers, Executive Director of the Heights CDC says that the event provides an opportunity for residents to fellowship, display neighborhood pride, and work together to improve quality of life. “The (Highland) Heights community is a special neighborhood in Memphis and a great place to live. Our residents, schools, churches, and businesses are invested and actively involved in neighborhood improvement and revitalization. On Saturday, we look forward to celebrating their outstanding accomplishments and commitment,” Myers stated.
The Heights community includes neighborhoods located North of Summer Ave. and South of Jackson Ave. The Heights of Spring Festival is free to attend and is a family-friendly event. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to take part in the festivities.
