Broad Avenue continues its infill of new restaurants and retail with more slated to open in the coming months. One newcomer already knows the lay of the land.
Found Studio, a retail shop offering vintage, gift and handmade items, will open in the space currently occupied by
Paige Miller Photography at 2491 Broad Ave.
Paige Miller, however, isn’t going anywhere. She’s the force behind the camera and behind the new retail venture.
“I just decided that Broad is growing so much and I feel like it’s time to try a little retail out,” Miller said. “I’ve always collected antiques and loved vintage interiors.”
She’s been on Broad since 2012, sharing space with another artist who has since moved on. While it’s her first foray into owning a retail store, she’s dipped her toes in the water with pop-up shops during
Broad Ave. Art Walks, and plans to open Found Studio during the upcoming festival on April 11. She’ll have one employee to begin with more staff added as needed.
She is lining up vendors with goods to sell and says one she’s particularly excited about specializes in “Memphis nostalgia” and vinyl. Others make dog collars and beds, and she’s talking with
Mo’s Bows, the young maker of bowties.
“I think we’ll have an eclectic mix of a little bit of everything.”
Miller’s photography increasingly takes her out in the field and frees up the 1,400-sq. ft. that Found Studio will now inhabit. Located between
The Bead Couture to the west and what will become
Forge to the east, it takes its place among other newcomers in the district such as
AM Photography Studio,
Muddy’s Kitchen and
Memphis Guitar Spa.
